IN CHARACTER
Full Name: Peter Anthony Petrelli Fandom: Heroes Age: 27 Sexuality: Bisexual Classification: Evolved Human Journal: canstillbeahero Alignment: Good Abilities: empathic mimicry (currently only one absorbed ability: flight) Point in Canon: post 3x13, "Dual" Brief History (I apologize in advance; there's no such thing as brief for me, with this character): Born on December 23rd, 1979, Peter Petrelli was the youngest child of Arthur and Angela Petrelli. He had one sibling - a brother, 13 years his elder, named Nathan. For pretty much his entire life, Peter was always viewed as a disappointment by his father, and somewhat babied or coddled by his mother. He was never what Arthur wanted; he chose to go into nursing instead of follow in the family footsteps by being a lawyer. He was always viewed as weak by his father, because he had a mind of his own; he didn't want to be like Nathan, a lot of the time. Nathan was the golden boy of the family, and the center of their father's attention, right behind work and his law firm. Peter graduated from nursing school in April of 2006, with a degree in hospice nursing. Shortly afterward, his father died, presumably of a heart attack. The loss was sudden and hard for both boys.
Six months later, things began to get strange. Peter began having dreams of flying; he dreamt of flying through the city, and quite often his brother, Nathan, was present in his dreams. Eager to learn the cause of them, he began investigating the idea of abilities, reading Chandra Suresh's book Activating Evolution. After seeing a painting by the painter Isaac Mendez that depicted him flying, he called Nathan to a particular building in town and proceeded to step off the edge. He didn't fly; instead he fell . . . until Nathan flew up and caught him. It was this moment that put into motion the events of the first season of Heroes, in which Peter saved cheerleader Claire Bennet from the madman known as Sylar. Shortly afterward, Peter collapsed from an overload of powers, going into a 2-week coma during which he dreamt of himself, exploding and decimating New York City. The image frightened him enough that he ran, running into invisible man Claude, who then trained him to use and control his abilities. After a close encounter with the Company, Claude left him behind, and Peter sought out Mohinder Suresh for help. He stumbled upon the man being attacked by Sylar, and in the process of saving Mohinder, he received a shard of glass to the back of the head, killing him.
Thankfully, that pesky death didn't stick. Mohinder managed to bring his body home, where Claire, having tracked down Peter and discovered that he is her uncle, was waiting. She was the one who found the glass and removed it, and with her close proximity allowing her power to kick in, he healed and was revived. Unfortunately, during the showdown with Sylar in Kirby Plaza, though the killer was defeated, Peter lost control of his abilities. He was set to blow, when Nathan came and flew him into the sky, where he could explode safely. Both managed to survive, though Nathan suffered severe radiation burns. After getting him to the hospital, Peter was captured by the Company and placed into custody. It was there that he met Adam Monroe, and together they escaped. Adam, in return, used his regenerative blood to heal Nathan. They got separated, though, after being caught by the Haitian, Peter was wiped of his memory and shipped off to Ireland in a shipping container. He managed to make a little life for himself at a pub in Ireland, with a set of Irish mobsters - in particular Ricky and his sister Caitlin, whom Peter fell in love with.
His little life was not to last, though, when Elle Bishop tracked him down, and murdered Ricky for not telling her where Peter was. After accessing Isaac Mendez's power by accident and painting a scene of them in Montreal, Peter and Caitlin left Ireland for Canada, to track down both Ricky's killer and Peter's past. An accident with teleportation left Caitlin stranded in a future where the Shanti Virus had gotten loose and killed 93% of the population; try as he might, Peter was unable to return to that future and rescue her, and she was never seen again. Upon being discovered by Adam Monroe in Montreal, Peter regained his memories and set out to help Adam destroy the Shanti Virus; unbeknownst to him, Adam wished to release it instead of destroy it, and he manipulated Peter to get himself close to the virus. A showdown at Primatech's facility in Odessa, Texas insued, and it was only Nathan's influence that made Peter see Adam for what he truly was. Just in time, he stopped the vial from breaking and releasing the virus, and using his nuclear ability he destroyed it for good.
The incident in Odessa made Nathan decide to call a press conference, and Peter was right at his side during it, as he spoke to the country and was about to reveal his ability to the world. Just before he could, he was shot, and Peter went chasing after the assailant, only to discover it was himself, from a future timeline. As a means of "safe-keeping", he was placed in the body of a powered inmate in Primatech's Level 5; a dangerous criminal named Jesse Murphy. After an attack on Primatech by Sylar, the inhabitants of Level 5 escaped, Peter (in Jesse's body) right with them. Trying to figure out what had happened, he chose to go with the villains, as they went on a miniature crime spree, ending in a bank robbery. It was there that the other villains discovered that he wasn't really Jesse, and he was placed under careful watch. Just as things started to get out of hand, the future version of himself returned and removed him from Jesse's body, taking him into the future to see just what he was trying to stop.
A future where everyone was given abilities whenever they wished was what greeted him, along with a cold, dangerous version of Claire. She shot and killed his future self, but Peter himself managed to escape and track down Sylar, as he'd been instructed by the future Peter. Finding him in Costa Verde, Peter was startled to find him with a normal life, and a child. With much coaxing and convincing, he managed to get Sylar to teach him to access his ability, and unfortunately the hunger that went with it. After an altercation with Claire and her associates that led to the death of Gabriel's son (and all of Costa Verde when he went nuclear), Peter was captured and tortured by Claire. It was stopped by Nathan, who then became the first victim of the Hunger in Peter, now that he'd accessed Sylar's ability. Immediately afterward he returned to the present timeline, where he tried to kill both Sylar and his own mother.
After being incapacitated by Sylar, he was placed in a chemically induced coma to keep him from becoming a danger to anyone else. He stayed there, locked away in Level 5, until Angela was placed into a coma, and he was released by Sylar. After learning of Pinehearst and the possible connection between it and his other's condition, he got into a vicious fight with Sylar, incapacitating him before going to Pinehearst alone . . . only to discover it was being run by someone thought long dead: his father, Arthur Petrelli. In his stunned state, he allowed Arthur to hug him, and as a result his powers were completely removed. His father had taken them away, as if they had never been. Now powerless, he was locked away at Pinehearst, only to be "rescued" by Sylar, whom he believed to be his brother. He was thrown from a very high window, but his impact was slowed by the other man, leaving him injured, but alive and free.
Hunted now by Pinehearst, he returned to Primatech and to his mother, choosing to fight on her side against his father. On a mission to Haiti to retrieve the Haitian, Peter discovered that he could still help, even without his powers. Unfortunately, that same trip resulted in the loss of his brother, when Nathan chose to go back to their father and join Pinehearst, leaving Peter stranded in Haiti. He managed to return to New York, though, the Haitian in tow, and together the two of them went to Pinehearst to bring an end to his father's reign. With the Haitian there, Arthur was powerless, and Peter, armed with a gun, actually managed to pull the trigger. Before the bullet could do the damage needed, though, it was stopped by Sylar, who waited long enough to find out that Arthur was not really his father, before he used the bullet to kill the man, permanently.
Left there with the gun and his father's body, Peter got into a heated fight with Nathan, before, with the help of villains Knox and Flint, destroying the formula that would give regular people powers. Once it was destroyed, however, things took a turn for the worse, as Nathan very viciously beat Peter with a steel pipe; from the severity of the beating, it was obvious that his brother was willing and fully intended to kill him, for ruining Pinehearst's plans. When fire broke out in the lab from the ruined formula, Peter made a last ditch decision, taking one of the few remaining doses of formula and using it on himself, flying himself and Nathan out of the burning facility. His brother shoved him away afterward, turning on him once more before leaving him alone. It was the last Peter has seen of him, since.
With his powers restored, he's been trying to live as much of a normal life as possible, even going so far as to get his paramedic's license and training. He's had little contact with his mother or Claire, and absolutel no contact with Nathan since the incident. PB: Milo Ventimiglia Was this character held for you?: Yes, under canstillbeahero
